| Locally Sourced Restaurant We know that you can lose your heart in Heidelberg, but many people have probably wondered where in Heidelberg you lose it. If you go to the Mensurstube in Hirschgasse, you will come perilously close to finding the answer to this question. The rooms have a very special charm. They are steeped in history that goes back over centuries and exude the silence of a period that somehow lives on here. Mark Twain once sat and wrote in the wood-panelled lounge, and Bismarck immortalised himself with a carving he made on the regulars’ table. However, this place is not like a museum. The restaurant has a bright cheerful atmosphere. The Mensurstube serves German food, using humour and imagination in fresh and unusual combinations. They also serve fine fines from the world’s wine growing areas.
