| International Restaurant, Hotel Bistrot Bruno Loubet, near Farringdon tube station in Clerkenwell, heralds Bruno Loubet’s return to the City of London, showcasing the distinctive modern bistrot cuisine that has been the hallmark of his previous influential London restaurants such as Bistrot Bruno and L’Odéon.
Some of the typical dishes to be found on the menu include Mauricette Snails and Meatballs, Beef Daube Provençale and Mousseline Potatoes, and Rice Pudding Pannacotta with Marmalade. To accompany the menu is an irresistible wine list of approximately 100 bins, half of which are French, focusing on the South-West region of the country. The curved shape of the original 85-seat restaurant has been retained, with its impressive wall of windows facing the square. Designer Russell Sage has refreshed the airy interior, giving it a more eclectic yet comfortable appeal. The use of reclaimed furniture and quirky objects, including classic American wall-mounted fans and old fashioned industrial lighting, helps convey the wit and personality for which Bistrot Bruno Loubet have become known. Specially woven raw cotton curtains line the bottom of the windows, and there are unusual furniture pieces, including a wardrobe created from old doors and waiter stations made from off-balance shelves.
