The only Tudor castle in England to be run as a hotel, Thornbury Castle is an historic building which once played host to Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Classic, heritage cuisine is served in the hexagonal panelled main dining room, with its heavy oil paintings and roaring fires. There are two smaller dining rooms for private functions, plus hearty roasts on Sundays and a well-chosen drinks list which includes wine from the castle’s own 500-year-old vineyard.
