The city’s original Irish pub, Glasgow’s Molly Malone’s is an exuberant bar and restaurant with an unpretentious menu of Scottish comfort food and international staples. Bevelled mirrors, dark woods and a buzzy, sociable air add to the Celtic charm, with live music during the week and late night openings, whilst the daytime cafe menu offers a more leisurely dining experience. The focus remains on sourcing the best quality ingredients, preparing them simply, and delivering bags of flavour and texture on the plate. This is good, honest, robust and stylish food with its origins firmly set in European tradition. There is nothing frilly or fancy. The home comforts are designed for easy eating, with more elaborate dishes also on offer. Small plates allow for casual snacking, while sandwiches and salads are possible for simple and casual dining in one course.
