The concept at the Kälberhalle, which is a restaurant and brewery rolled into one, is both simple and ingenious. Old architectural structures blend in an astonishing symbiosis with the latest technology and interior design. The Kälberhalle, which is affectionately known as the Bräustüble, is designed to cater for more than 400 guests. Yet despite its size, the restaurant exudes a warm atmosphere. When the restaurant was expanded, a lot of wood was used in the building work and many details of the former cattle shed were reused in the interior design. When it comes to the food, the Kälberhalle serves good traditional home-cooking at reasonable prices. Try the famous beer which is brewed in the restaurant’s very own brewery, the massive bulk of which looms large in the background. Order your beer by the glass, in litre siphons, and even in 5-litre wooden barrels, and enjoy drinking in the company of your friends. Watch the cakes being baked - they taste delicious and smell wonderful. The waiters and waitresses wear traditional costume which come over as somewhat cheeky but should not be taken too seriously.
