Oslo’s oldest restaurant can be found in the wonderfully charming Bankplassen square, part of the historical district known as Kvadraturen. The restaurant is a delightful combination of 150-year-old traditions and a menu inspired by classical cuisine. The building is a treasure in itself, steeped in tradition and history: Ibsen, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, Edvard Grieg and Edvard Munch were all regulars at Engebret Café, now replaced by many faces from contemporary art and theatre in Norway. Charming outdoors area for the summer where guests can enjoy both lunch and à la carte.
