A flavour of the past comes to life when one of Colchester’s most historic buildings re-opens in November 2012 as The Stockwell - a premier British dining destination for all the family.
A Ă‚ÂŁ1 million renovation project harmoniously fuses the past with the present to create a unique, continuously evolving interactive dining experience in a venue steeped in history and charm.
Located in the Dutch Quarter, local historians date the venue back to 1350. Inglenook fireplaces, a 14th century archway, rare dragon’s tail ceiling joints and medieval carvings have all been lovingly restored to heighten your experience at The Stockwell.
Designed to stimulate your senses and using locally sourced produce, our menu brings a modern, quirky twist to traditional dishes and world street food alike, while our Real Ale Hall showcases local brewers. What’s more, we welcome ‘fussy’ kids, making food fun - and educational - for your little tykes.
With a minstrel’s gallery and various room configurations available for hire, The Stockwell is also an ideal setting for private dinners, corporate events and celebratory occasions.
