Lunches are informal and relaxed, served tapas style with some 15 or so dishes from which to choose. In the fine weather you may eat outside at the south facing front of the restaurant on the Strand or in the private rear courtyard.

Dinner, in either the downstairs restaurant or upstairs panelled dining room, is a true fine dining affair with James’s dishes lovingly prepared and served. You may select from the à la carte menu or indulge yourself with his seven course tasting menu.

Since opening in August 2008, James and his team have established the Restaurant as a destination, fine dining venue. The food is of the highest quality; all prepared on the premises with great flare using the finest local produce and reflecting the impressive background and experience of the chef.

James commenced his career as a junior chef at a small Michelin starred restaurant near Bordeaux. He then moved to work under the legendary Albert Roux and later, Michel Roux at the two Michelin star Le Gavroche. He was part of the team which opened Gordon Ramsey’s second restaurant venture, L’Oranger under Marcus Wareing and then he joined Philip Howard at the Square in Bruton Street, where he was part of the team which secured its second Michelin Star. He worked in Sydney for several years at two of its finest restaurants, then returned to Europe as head chef at the boutique hotel Casablanca near Ronda in Spain before opening his own restaurant there. His restaurant manager is Stefano de Raimondo who has an impressive front-of-house background in restaurants in his native Italy and Germany. He has joined James from Guernsey where he was, until recently, restaurant manager and sommelier at the Island’s only Michelin starred restaurant Christophe.
