The Hammersteins makes a good impression. This large corner restaurant is a sight for sore eyes in Cologne’s shopping and fashion district. The restaurant serves breakfast, business lunch, afternoon coffee and dinner. The staff are hardworking, catering for tired shoppers and the in-crowd from early in the morning to late at night. The cube at the fresh food counter glows red. The wine selection is good. Upstairs there is a smokers’ lounge and an excellent choice of tea. Every little design detail is perfect. The downstairs toilets are made from slate black and the crystal chandeliers are avant-garde. You can also sit outside under the awning.
