Formerly called 'Convent Garden', Covent Garden is the area bordered by High Holborn to the north, the Strand to the south, Kingsway to the east and Charing Cross Road to the west. Originally a wholesale market, Covent Garden still retains a wide range of shops. However it is perhaps better known in modern times for it's restaurants, cafes and street performers.
