Information on Poplar, London
Once the world's largest port, London's Docklands has excellent transport links via the Docklands Light Railway, Jubilee Line, London buses and a riverbus service, making it quick and easy to access the many attractions on offer.

Between 1960 and 1980, all of London's docks were closed leaving around 8 square miles of land derelict in East London. In 1981 an ambitious redevelopment plan was initiated. Today the London Docklands is a major business hub and a highly desirable residential area.

The area boasts many fine restaurants and excellent walking. South of the Thames the former tea, coffee and spice warehouses have been tastefully converted into restaurants, art galleries, designer shops and cultural centres such as the Design Museum. North of the river, St Katharine Docks delights. Old swing bridges and beautiful sailing ships provide an ambience of yesteryear.

With many fine walks and excellent travel connections London's Docklands is not just a place for business but a thoroughly exciting place to visit and the nearby O2 Arena offers a vast program of entertainment all year round from sports to rock concerts.

The following restaurants in Poplar offer private dining facilities (listed in alphabetical order):
